Extending Yioop! With Geographical Location Local Search
It is often useful when doing an internet search to get results based on our current location. For example, we might want such results when we search on restaurants, car service center, or hospitals. Current open source search engines like those based on Nutch do not provide this facility. Commercial engines like Google and Yahoo! provide this facility so it would be useful to incorporate it in an open source alternative. The goal of this project is to include location aware search in Yioop!(Pollett, 2012) by using geographical data from OpenStreetMap(“Open Street map wiki”, 2012) and hostip.info (“DMOZ”, n.d.) database to geolocate IP addresses
On factorization of the shift semigroup
Let on
be the right shift semigroup for a separable
Hilbert space . Let and
be a pair of semigroups of contractions
which satisfy and for every . Such a pair is called a factorization of
. The main result of this note completely describes
all factorizations of when is finite
dimensional. Using the known fact that is unitarily
equivalent to a semigroup of multiplication operators on the vector valued
Hardy space , we employ novel function theoretic
methods and classical convex analysis to arrive at the factorization
Asymptomatic Proteinuria and Hematuria in School Going Children
Background: This study was undertaken because many cases of asymptomatic proteinuria and hematuria are present in school children.Aims and Objectives:The study was under taken to evaluate asymptomatic proteinuria and hematuria in 100 school children of both sexes from 6 to 15 years of age. Material and Methods: Samples were collected randomly from students of different classes at the Government Kannada Primary School, K H B Colony,Bijapur, Karnataka (India). The midstream urine sample was collected in a clean wide mouth jar, examined by dipsticks for proteinuria and hematuria by microscopy. Results:We found that asymptomatic proteinuria and hematuria was more prevalent amongst the children between 10 to 13 years of age group with female predominance i.e.16% proteinuria and 5% of microscopic hematuria respectively. Conclusion:By this study we conclude that it would be possible to screen a large population of children for asymptomatic proteinuria and hematuria at a relatively low cost
Pediatric Crohn disease: A case series from a tertiary care center
Crohn disease (CD) is an inflammatory bowel disease that causes transmural inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Growth failure is a major complication and can occur before gastrointestinal manifestations in children with CD. We present here four such cases where short stature and undernutrition constituted major symptomatology, along with enteric features. Median age of presentation was 13 years. Intermittent abdominal pain and growth failure were the predominant clinical manifestations. Features of imaging and colonoscopy were suggestive of CD. A poor response was noted to corticosteroids and azathioprine in three children. Clinical remission was not achieved as per abbreviated pediatric CD activity index score. One child succumbed to illness secondary to dilated cardiomyopathy. A good therapeutic response with significant weight gain was observed in two children after starting biologicals. Only one child responded to oral corticosteroids and mesalamine. Considering biologicals early in chronically active moderate to severe CD can help in altering the prognosis
Serine Proteases-Like Genes in the Asian Rice Gall Midge Show Differential Expression in Compatible and Incompatible Interactions with Rice
The Asian rice gall midge, Orseolia oryzae (Wood-Mason), is a serious pest of rice. Investigations into the gall midge-rice interaction will unveil the underlying molecular mechanisms which, in turn, can be used as a tool to assist in developing suitable integrated pest management strategies. The insect gut is known to be involved in various physiological and biological processes including digestion, detoxification and interaction with the host. We have cloned and identified two genes, OoprotI and OoprotII, homologous to serine proteases with the conserved His87, Asp136 and Ser241 residues. OoProtI shared 52.26% identity with mosquito-type trypsin from Hessian fly whereas OoProtII showed 52.49% identity to complement component activated C1s from the Hessian fly. Quantitative real time PCR analysis revealed that both the genes were significantly upregulated in larvae feeding on resistant cultivar than in those feeding on susceptible cultivar. These results provide an opportunity to understand the gut physiology of the insect under compatible or incompatible interactions with the host. Phylogenetic analysis grouped these genes in the clade containing proteases of phytophagous insects away from hematophagous insects
Sensitive Pressure Gauge Using Silicon Surface Barrier Detector
205-208A silicon surface barrier detector is designed and fabricated to observe IX-particles from various radioactive sources. The energy spectrum of monoenergetic α–particles from 2&1 Am source using this detector is obtained with the help of a 256 channel microprocessor controlled pulse height analyzer (MCA). A shift in the peak of the energy spectrum towards the lower channel is observed if the pressure between the source and the detector is increased. This can be used to observe the pressure. A differential counting method is described to determine the pressure accurately. The application of this device in a balloon flight experiment is discussed
Detectors to Observe Various Radiations & Their Energy Calibration-I: Beta Ray Energy Calibration for Plastic Scintillation Detectors for the Range~ 50 to ~600 keV
104-105A method is described to calibrate plastic scintillation counters for observing low energy electrons. using β-emitting radioactive sources. Some of the sources such as 63Ni. 35S 45Ca and 90Sr of energies 63, 165, 256 and 556 keV, respectively are used to calibrate a plastic scintillation counter with the help of a single channel and a 256-channel pulse height analyzers. The details of the electronics used and the method of calibration are presented. The importance and the need for such calibration of detectors for space science experiments are also discussed
Heart Attack as a Biological Effect of Geomagnetic Fluctuations
119-120The number of heart patients, admitted everyday to the Intensive Cardiac Care Units (ICCU) of three hospitals in Bombay, has been found to increase with increase in the daily KP sum values (measure of geomagnetic activity) for the year 1976. The correlation coefficient is found to be 0·72 ±0·15
